Adam C Weinstein, of St. Charles, Ill., has sued the Belleville Police Department. Weinstein was approached by police and arrested for wearing a T shirt that had the word “Police.” Weinstein claimed his constitutional rights were violated.
Weinstein wore the T shirt inside a bar. A waitress inside the bar told Weinstein that police wanted to talk to him outside the bar. Jeff Vernatti, of the Belleville Police, asked Weinstein for his police identification.
Weinstein supposedly became abusive. He was handcuffed but released later. Weinstein was given a ticket for impersonation of a police officer but the ticket was dismissed.
