Bear, a Lhasa apso dog, lived in Metairie, Louisiana before he ran away in Dec 2007. Bear was found in Bay County, Florida when animal control officers scanned the microchip implanted in his back. Bear’s owner is Amanda Wells, 27. Wells traveled from Louisiana to Florida, some 336 miles, to get Bear. Wells said she was shocked Bear was found about 17 months later.

Bear was kept in Wells’ parents yard before he escaped. Bear was not wearing a collar or tag when he left the yard. It was a good thing animal control found Bear and scanned him.
