Carole King is a singer, songwriter and musician. She plays the piano. King was formerly married to Gerry Goffin. The pair wrote at least 24 chart toppers. King achieved great success as a songwriter. Her songwriting fame and results far exceeded her singing performances.

For example, in 2000, Carole King was named as the most successful songwriter for the time between 1955 to 1999, as she had written or collaborated with another songwriter, a total of 118 hit songs, on Billboard Hot 100.

Carole King has been honored with 4 Grammy Awards for her efforts in music. Ms King has been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Hit Parade Hall of Fame.

For her album named Tapestry, King has been holding the record for the longest time a female recording artiste has remained on the charts. Tapestry also gave King the record for the longest time an album done by a female recording artist has held the Number One position.

Carole King and Goffin were married in Sep 1960. King gave birth to two daughters, Louise Goffin and Sherry Goffin Kondor. Both daughters became musicians. Sadly, King and Goffin’s marriage was short-lived and they divorced in 1968. King and Goffin collaborated on some music until he suffered from declining health. King then stopped contacting her ex-husband.

Besides music, King has ventured into other fields as well. She tried her hand at acting, and promoting social causes. As for her stand in politics, King is a staunch Democrat.
