Iran invades Iraq: Iran invades Iraq over oil well
Iran invades Iraq. Iran invades Iraq to seize control of an oil well in a strip of disputed territory near the Iran-Iraq border. On Friday, Iran “invaded” Iraq to claim what they view as theirs.
Iranian forces raised the Iranian flag at Well 4, in the Fauqa Field.
The US gave a less alarming version of the event. It was all part of a routine to dispute over the oil wells by planting flags to take over a well. When one country’s force withdraws, the other country’s force will go and claim the well as their own. The border and the oil wells near the border are disputed despite the agreed border line demarcation long ago.
