Ron Franklin and Jeannine Edwards are no longer colleagues and co-anchors after a sexist remark and then another derogatory one. Ron Franklin, a veteran ESPN announcer, called his colleague Edwards, “sweetcakes”. After Edwards voiced her objection, Franklin sarcastically called her “asshol*”.
Edwards made a complaint to her bosses at ESPN. They suspended Franklin indefinitely.
Ron Franklin ruined his second chance. He had his first warning in 2005, when he called his fellow sports reporter Holly Rowe a sexist name, which was “sweetheart”. Franklin was warned by his ESPN bosses. This second time around, Franklin has made his bed and so must lie on it.
