Unicus Performance Training is suing Oprah Winfrey and Harpo Inc for breach of contract but the defendants claimed Unicus violated the terms of the contract in the first place.

Unicus claimed they were unpaid for a workout program specially custom made for Oprah Winfrey. Unicus said Harpo Inc suddenly fired them after they sent out publicity emails to promote Unicus’ upcoming appearance on Oprah’s radio show.

By doing so, Unicus had violated the confidentiality agreement they signed with Harpo and Oprah Winfrey. The contract disallowed Unicus using any of the trademarked names for promotion or advertising without written consent.

Unicus has done the work but now, it seems likely they won’t enjoy the fruits of their labor.
